Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program
Fresh Start Therapeutic Services (FSTS) is a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) providing community based and individualized support to minors ages 5-17, and adults ages 18 and over that are in need of additional behavioral health support.
PRP services are an extension of therapy/counseling, and FSTS’ role is to engage individuals (referred to as clients, consumers, or participants) and assist them with working through what occurs internally (mentally and emotionally), as well as physically upon receiving a mental health diagnosis.
Our rehabilitation services are meant to assist clients with setting and achieving immediate and long-term goals; identify and highlight individual strengths and areas of need; and help bring resolve to distressing symptoms (i.e. anger, anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment difficulty, etc.).
The range of services provided by FSTS includes, but is not limited to:
-
Development of social and communication skills
-
Anger management
-
Psychoeducation regarding mental health diagnosis
-
Impulse control
-
Life skills from youth through adulthood
-
Nutrition
-
Education and/or job placement
-
Coping skills
Services are provided on-site, in the office, as well as off-site, in client’s homes and in the community. FSTS’ PRP services are organized to promote social and life skills. FSTS staff assists clients with making decisions regarding home, school, work, and community. Staff also assists with accessing various community resources. Services are relevant, age appropriate, and convenient to clients in terms of time and place of service.
Clients must be referred for PRP services. Referrals are accepted from mental health counselors/therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, etc. Clients who are receiving therapeutic services from an outpatient mental health clinic, or private therapist are eligible to receive PRP services that can address medication management, mental health treatment, physical activity, recreation, nutrition, daily living skills, and somatic health. If clients are not engaged in therapy, FSTS staff will provide client with linkage to therapists and/or psychiatrists.
